On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hon’ble Dr. Nandakumarji Vedak Sir, Chairman of Shri Gopnath Mahadeo Vedak Pratishthan, the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) of G. M. Vedak College of Science, Tala, jointly organized a blood donation camp on December 4, 2024. This event was conducted in association with the Civil Hospital Blood Center, District Hospital Alibag, and held on the college campus.
The inauguration of the camp began with the I/C Principal, Dr. Jaydeep Deore, extending his heartfelt wishes to the Chairman on his birthday. He also inspired the audience to actively participate in the noble cause of blood donation. Following this, Dr. Deepak Gosavi, Civil Surgeon of the District Hospital Alibag, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance and necessity of blood donation. He provided valuable insights into the criteria for blood donation, emphasizing who can donate and the ideal conditions under which donation can take place.
The program was seamlessly anchored by NSS Program Officer, Dr. Mrs. Nasreen Shaikh, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sachin Bangale, also an NSS Program Officer.
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Gosavi and his team, along with the dedicated supervision of Dr. Shaikh, Dr. Bangale, and the Chairman of DLLE, Mr. Kiran Gawade, the blood donation camp was successfully executed. Students, staff members and some localists from Tala enthusiastically participated, resulting in the collection of approximately 50 units of blood.
The camp was a testament to the college’s commitment to social responsibility and service, reflecting the values championed by Dr. Nandakumarji Vedak Sir.
