The NSS unit of G. M. Vedak College of Science, Tala organized a Yoga Demonstration Program to celebrate International Yoga Day. The aim of celebrating International Yoga Day was to promote the practice of yoga among the college community, emphasizing its benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. The objective was to educate participants on basic yoga techniques and foster a sense of unity and health consciousness.
Dr. Nasreen Shaikh opened the program by informing the students about the background and importance of celebrating International Yoga Day. The event featured a comprehensive yoga session led by NSS Program Officer Dr. Sachin Bangale, designed to cater to participants of all levels, from beginners to those with some experience in yoga.
The activities included:
Warm-up Exercises: The session began with gentle warm-up exercises to prepare the body for yoga postures.
Basic Yoga Postures: Dr. Bangale demonstrated a series of basic yoga postures, also known as asanas, which included standing, sitting, and lying down poses.
Breathing Techniques: Following the postures, participants were introduced to pranayama, the practice of controlled breathing techniques. Dr. Vivek Rane, NSS Committee member, guided the participants through various breathing exercises.
Surya Namaskar Session: The session included a detailed practice of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), a sequence of twelve powerful yoga poses. Mr. Tarate explained the significance of each pose and how it contributes to the flow of energy and balance in the body.
Laughing Session: A unique and enjoyable addition to the program was the laughing session. Dr. Bangale led participants through a series of laughter exercises, emphasizing the therapeutic benefits of laughter in reducing stress and promoting a positive mood.
